Open to the public since 1996, the Skirball Cultural Center is dedicated to exploring the connections between 4,000 years of Jewish Heritage and the vitality of democratic ideals. It welcomes and seeks to inspire people of every ethnic and cultural identity in American life. It’s mission is achieved through educational programs that explore the literary, visual and performing arts from around the world; through the display and interpretation of its extraordinary permanent collections: Visions and Values: Jewish Life from Antiquity to America and Noah’s Ark at the Skirball, a new multi-sensory, interactive family destination inspired by the ancient flood story that has been voted the Best Indoor Play Space by Best of LA 2007 and through dynamic changing exhibitions; through scholarship in American Jewish history and related publications; and through outreach to the community. All in a stunning architectural setting designed by the renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the Skirball has been hailed by the New York Times as a “lesson on how to connect the eye to the heart and mind.”

Hours: Tuesday–Friday, noon–5:00 pm;
Thursday, noon–9:00 pm and free all day to the public; Saturday–Sunday 10:00 am–5:00 pm
Closed: Mondays, New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the first day of major Jewish holidays.
